The role supports strategic decision-making through robust analysis, scenario modelling and ALCO reporting, while managing key relationships with internal stakeholders, interbank counterparties, and the CBN.
Active management and optimization of the Bank's Balance Sheet to ensure sustainable profitability, adequate liquidity, interest rate risk control, capital efficiency and regulatory compliance
Reduction of the Bank's cost of funds
Supporting strategic decision-making through robust analysis, scenario modelling and ALCO reporting
Key relationship management including internal stakeholders, interbank counterparties as well as CBN and other relevant external counterparties
Provide oversight for the ALM desk including supervision of subordinates
Manage interest rate risk in the banking books including repricing gaps, duration, Net Interest Income (NII) sensitivity and Economic Value of Equity (EVE) metrics
Analyse and optimize the asset-liability mix across tenors, currencies and products
Support repricing of assets and liabilities using relevant frameworks
Monitor and manage liquidity risk metrics
Support funding strategy, deposit mix optimisation and wholesale funding decisions
Conduct liquidity stress testing and contingency funding analysis
Serve as the ALCO secretariat by coordinating the activities of ALCO
Prepare and present ALCO packs, dashboards and balance sheet analysis
Provide scenario and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decisions
Translate technical ALM outcomes into clear insights for senior management
Work closely with IT and vendors on development and implementation of ALM systems
Support development and review of ALM, liquidity and FTP policies
Ensure strong governance around limits, assumptions and model usage
Assess balance sheet impact of regulatory changes and policy directives
Ensure compliance with CBN/Basel/Internal ALM policies
7–12 years of relevant experience in Bank Treasury, Balance Sheet Management, ALM/Market Risk/Financial Risk Management
Proven experience preparing ALCO materials and senior management reports
Hands-on exposure to IRRBB, liquidity risk and balance sheet analytics
Experience within a regulated banking environment
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (2nd class upper division)
Master's degree (MBA, MSc Finance, Financial Engineering, or Economics) preferred
Professional certifications such as CFA, Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or ACI would be an added advantage
Strong financial modelling and quantitative skills
Advanced Excel; working knowledge of Power BI/SQL is an added advantage
Familiarity with ALM systems and balance sheet models
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
High attention to detail and risk awareness
Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly
Sound judgment under changing market conditions
Strong stakeholder management across Treasury, Risk and Finance
